Forex Flash: ANZ Commodity Price Index has strongest pint in 1.5 years - ANZ

By FXstreet.com October 01, 2012, 08:54:00 PM EDT

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The ANZ Commodity Price Index printed a 3.5% rise in September, strongest monthly gain in 1.5 years, ANZ Economist Steve Edwards says in a note. Skim milk powder and aluminum, both up 11% in the month, together with butter and whole milk powder, which rose 8%, were the main drivers. The high NZD, however, continued to damp potential returns to New Zealand exporters, says Edwards. Meat prices in NZD terms remain at a 2 year low, with seafood and forestry at 31 and 35 month lows, respectively.
