By FXstreet.com May 18, 2012, 03:23:00 PM EDT

FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - The European single currency has spiked to a fresh 3-day high against the dollar ahead of the closing bell in New York, touching 1.2783 amid no news, suggesting the surge may be accredited to algorithmic traders triggering bids during one of the more illiquid time of the trading week. EUR/USD is last quoted in the 1.2765 price zone, recording a 0.5% gain on the day.
