First Solar Releases Financial Guidance - Shares Soar 37%, But $4 Off New 52-Week High Hit Earlier

First Solar, Inc. ( FSLR ) today announced full-year 2013 guidance as well as summary financial targets through 2015. For 2013, FSLR expects net sales of between $3.8 and $4.0 billion, including approximately $3.6 billion in net sales from systems sales.

Excluding up to $10 million in restructuring expense as previously announced, diluted EPS is expected to be between $4.00 and $4.50, and consolidated operating income is expected to be between $430 and $460 million.

For 2014, FLSR expects net sales will be $3.5 to $4.0 billion, and diluted EPS $2.50-$4.00. For 2015, FSLR expects net sales will be $4.2 to $4.8 billion, diluted EPS $4.00 to $6.00.

Ahead of the release of financial guidance, at analyst day, FSLR added that it set a new world record for cadmium-telluride photovoltaic module conversion efficiency, achieving a record 16.1% total area module efficiency in tests that were confirmed by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Shares have rocketed since the release of the financial results and after a trading halt was lifted, currently adding 37% to $37. But it is $4 down from a 52-week high of $41 hit earlier. Prior to the earnings release, but after the analyst day announcement shares were up about 6%.
