U.S. stock futures are pointing to a weaker start to Monday's
regular session, tracking Europe stocks lower after G-20 countries
today announced that it will delay a boost in funding for the
International Monetary Fund. The finance ministers of the Group of
20 nations maintained pressure on EU leaders to boost its bailout
funds to lessen the impact of the euro-zone debt crisis outside
Winners and Losers
Financials are leading the broad market decline in pre-market
trading. Select Financial Sector SPDRs (XLF) is down 0.68%.
Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X shares (FAS) is down 1.69%. Its
bearish counterpart, FAZ, is up 1.71%.
Among actives: Bank of America (BAC) is down 0.38%, Goldman
Sachs (GS) is down 0.89%, Morgan Stanley (MS) is down 0.76%,
Citigroup (C) is down 0.74%.
Technology shares are lower in pre-market trading. Among tech
actives: Apple (AAPL) is down 0.35%; Microsoft (MSFT) is down
0.32%; Intel (INTC) is down 0.45%; Google (GOOG) is down 0.34%;
Cisco (CSCO) is down 0.4%; Yahoo (YHOO) is down 0.13%.
In the ETF space, iShares Dow Jones US Technology ETF (IYW),
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) and iShares S&P North
American Technology ETF (IGM) are expected to be narrowly mixed.
iShares S&P North American Technology-Software Index (IGV) is
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) and Semiconductor Sector Index
Fund (SOXX) are indicated for a lower start.
SPDR S&P International Technology Sector ETF (IPK) is headed
for a flat to lower start.
Vanguard Industrials (VIS), iShares Trust Dow Jones U.S.
Industrial Sector Index Fund (IYJ), and Select Sector
SPDR-Industrial (XLI) are expected to open lower.
April crude futures are down 97 cents or 1.07% at $108.70 a
barrel. United States Oil Fund (USO) is down 0.76%.
April gold is down $7.30 at $1,769.30 an ounce. SPDR Gold Trust
(GLD) is down 0.26%. Silver futures are down 0.21% at $35.35 a
pound. iShares Silver Trust (SLV) is down 0.15% at 34.31.
Dow Jones U.S. Energy Fund (IYE) and Energy Select Sector SPDR
(XLE) are expected to see movement as several companies in the
sector report their earnings today.
El Paso (EP) is up 0.52% to near year highs in pre-market
trading after reporting an improved Q4 versus last year.
BP (BP) is also seeing upward movement in the pre-market
session, now up 2.30%, after Reuters reported that the trial to
decide who should pay for the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill has
been delayed by a week, to allow BP Plc to try to cut a deal with
tens of thousands of businesses and individuals affected by the
