This week's calendar is relatively quiet, with most of the big
news coming from overseas. There's also a heavy focus on
energy-sector and media earnings.
Today, for instance, features the the Eurozone's Sentix sentiment
index early in the session and Chinese service-sector data in the
evening. Michael Kors and Realogy report earnings before the
opening bell. American International Group, Avis Budget, Pioneer
Natural Resources, Marathon Oil, and GT Advanced Technologies are
on the afternoon roster.
Tuesday brings the Institute for Supply Management's key
service-sector index, factory orders, and European retail sales.
CVS Caremark, Emerson Electric and Archer-Daniels Midland announce
results before the opening bell. Walt Disney, First Solar, EOG
Resources, and Zillow follow after the closing bell.
Wednesday brings German weekly mortgage applications and crude-oil
inventories. Chesapeake Energy, Denbury Resources, Devon Energy,
Time Warner, Viacom, and Molson Coors issue results in the morning.
Prudential Financial, Twenty-First Century Fox, Green Mountain
Coffee Roasters, and Symantec report after the close.
Thursday is the busiest session of the week, with the European
Central Bank's interest-rate decision, jobless claims, and monthly
same-store sales from select retailers. The pre-market lineup
includes Mylan, Melco Crown, Linn Energy, SunEdison, and Rio Tinto.
CBS, Nvidia, SolarCity and Monster Beverage step up to the plate
after the bell.
The only noteworthy event Friday is earnings from Brazilian energy
