Dr. Pepper Snapple Q3 Profit Rises, Beating View; Revenue Falls Short; Forecast Could Miss (DPS)

Beverage maker Dr. Pepper Snapple Group Inc. ( DPS ) on Wednesday posted a sharp uptick in third quarter earnings, although its revenue totals and full-year outlook were disappointing.

The Plano, TX-based company reported third quarter net income of $179 million, or 84 cents per share, compared with $154 million, or 71 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding special items, adjusted profit was 79 cents per share.

Revenue was flat from last year at $1.53 billion.

On average, Wall Street analysts expected a smaller profit of 77 cents per share, albeit on higher revenue of $1.56 billion.

Looking ahead, DPS said it expects full-year 2012 earnings of $2.90 to $2.98 per share, which could miss Wall Street's view of $2.96 per share for the year.

Dr. Pepper Snapple shares fell $1.08, or -2.5%, in premarket trading Wednesday.
