be offering its popular Hopper device powered with
) home automation technology.
Control4 offers a home operating system that helps in controling
music, video, lighting, temperature, security and communications.
It also provides subscription services, which allow consumers to
control and monitor their homes remotely from their through
smartphones, tablets or laptops.
In order to boost the auto installation procedure of Control4's
applications into DISH's devices, DISH will employ Control4's
Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP).
Hence, the integration will help the users to easily operate the
Hopper devices through Control4 remotes, touch screen or smart
phone app. Moreover, the user can easily order for Pay-Per-View
and On-Demand content or change channels and search for program.
Going forward, the Control4 remote will also have the ability to
manage DVR recordings and browse the entire Video-On-Demand
In Jul, DISH allowed third-party application developers to build
programs on the company's application programming interface
(API). This will enable users to operate DISH's popular Hopper
devices more easily.
Higher proliferation of smartphones and tablets coupled with
enormous success of the third-party applications available on
) iOS and
) Android platform has induced DISH to initiate such offerings.
DISH Network's Hopper DVR device has already gained popularity.
The implementation of the open source platform concept, which is
followed by most smartphone and tablet developers, is expected to
