FRANKFURT--Deutsche Telekom AG (DTE.XE) said Thursday it now has the last necessary approval from U.S. authorities for the planned merger of its T-Mobile USA operations with MetroPCS Communications Inc. (PCS), after receiving the green light from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S.

MetroPCS shareholders have yet to approve the deal and will next meet at the annual shareholder meeting April 12. Both companies back the transaction. The merger of T-Mobile with MetroPCS will create a publicly traded company in which Deutsche Telekom has a holding of 74%.

The German telecoms company has already received approval for the merger from the Federal Communications Commission and The U.S. Department of Justice.
