•    Netflix, Inc.'s (NASDAQ: NFLX ) CEO Reed Hastings said that for the first time the company's streaming service recorded over 1 billion hours last month. The announcement helped the Netflix shares gain 13.4%

•    Reports that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL ) will launch a smaller iPad tablet at the end of this year helped the company's shares jump 1.8% to cross the $600 level

•    Visteon Corporation (NYSE: VC ) will be making a near $800 million bid to acquire complete control of air-condition manufacturer Halla Climate Control

•    Walgreen Company (NYSE: WAG ) would pay roughly $438 million to buy a regional drugstore from Stephen L. LaFrance Holdings Inc
