Chesapeake Utilities Acquires Assets of Austin Cox Home Services; Shares Dip 1%

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation ( CPK ) has acquired the operating assets of plumbing and electric services provider, Austin Cox Home Services.

In addition to HVAC, plumbing and electrical services, Austin Cox can perform in-home conversions for those customers who choose to convert from alternative fuels to natural gas.

Austin Cox will remain president of his eponymous company, which will retain the name, Austin Cox Home Services.

In related news, CPK's subsidiary, Sandpiper Energy acquired the assets of Eastern Shore Gas Co on May 31st. In a company issued statement, CPK said the acquisition "is a key next step in our growth strategy, enabling us to significantly expand our footprint in Worcester County [Delaware]."

Shares of CPK are down 0.84% to $51.78 in afternoon trade, within a 52-week range of $41.17 to $55.86.
