Canadian stocks closed down 35 points and near session lows on Tuesday, most sectors were lower. Stocks were led down by a nearly a 3.5% decline in Metals and Mining, but Financials bucked the trend.

Individual stocks weighing on the overall market included Ballard Power Systems (BLDP, BLD.TO). Tony Guglielmin, its Chief Financial Officer, was slated to present during the 26th Annual ROTH Conference at The Ritz Carlton in Dana Point, California yesterday. The stock dropped nearly 26% in heavy volume.

Bombardier (BBD-B.TO) also weighed amid continuing concerns about delays in its CSeries program.
