Canadian stocks closed higher on Friday; climbing to a fresh 2-year high mid-day but sold off into the close. Most sectors were up, led by Indusrials but Metals and Mining bucked the trend.

Stocks traded nearly unchanged for most of the morning but moved higher in the afternoon adding to Thursday's gains. Metals and Mining stocks were hampered from pressure on gold prices which saw the yellow metal decline 3.4% for the week.

Eastern Platinum Limited Most Active (ELR.TO) was the most active share on the TSX. On Thursday the company reported better than expected earnings. The stock climbed 16.6% with 38 million shares changing hands.
