Bulls take wheel again in Hertz Global

By optionMONSTER September 04, 2012, 11:33:26 AM EDT

The bulls are taking the wheel at Hertz Global for the second time in less than a week.

optionMONSTER's Heat Seeker monitoring system detected the purchase of about 6,000 January 14 calls for $1.80. Volume was more than 85 times open interest at the strike.

HTZ is trading at $14.29 this morning, up 0.78 percent today and 22 percent in the last month. The car-rental giant has reported consistently strong financial results and got another jolt higher on Aug. 27 after finalizing a takeover of smaller rival Dollar Thrifty. The move ended more than a year of back-and-forth between the companies.

Those January calls are in the money , creating leverage on even a relatively small move in the share price. Their delta is 0.57, meaning that they will appreciate $0.57 for every $1 that HTZ goes up. (See our Education section)

The Heat Seeker also detected apparently bullish option activity last Wednesday .

While overall option volume in the name only slightly above average, calls outnumber puts by a very bullish 200-to-1 ratio.
