Brazil Posts $370 Million Foreign-Trade Surplus For Feb 13-19
BRASILIA -(Dow Jones)- Brazil posted a foreign-trade surplus of $370 million
in the third week of February, the trade ministry reported Wednesday.
In the Feb. 13-19 period, exports totaled $4.70 billion, while imports were $
4.33 billion.
With the latest figures, Brazil's year-to-date trade surplus totaled $429
million, compared with a surplus of $1.954 billion in the same period of 2011.
Analysts are expecting a decrease in Brazil's trade surplus for 2012 after the
country posted a trade surplus of $29.79 billion in 2011. According to a weekly
survey of economists released by Brazil's central bank earlier Wednesday, the
country is seen posting a 2012 surplus of $19.5 billion. That figure was up from
$19.1 billion in the previous week's survey.
