BMC Software Inc.
(
BMC
) recently announced that it has provided its information
technology service management (ITSM) support to College of Marin
for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 1926, College of Marin is one
of the 112 public community colleges in California.
Of late, the institution was facing challenges due to significant
government budget cuts. Consequently, the college was left with
limited funds to meet IT needs and manage its operations
smoothly.
To solve the problem, management chose BMC Software's TrackIt
solution. According to the College of Marin, the solution is
cheaper than other similar products and reduces overall IT
supervision costs.
BMC TrackIt facilitates effective, user-friendly and faster help
desk system implementation. The solution automates the process of
collecting and analyzing data, and generating comprehensive
solutions for customer requests. This also lessens the task of IT
staff supervision. With BMC TrackIt, the institution will now be
able to assess and track the status of its IT assets.
In a similar development, the IT department of City of San Mateo
opted for BMC TrackIt solution to eliminate the process of issuing
hand-written helpdesk tickets.
Earlier this month, MemorialCare Health System and Oryx Align
adopted BMC Software's TrackIt in order to solve helpdesk problems.
TrackIt has been accepted by around 50,000 organizations. The
solution was inherited from Numara Software, which was acquired in
January 2012.
The popularity of BMC Software's ITSM suites is growing. We are
encouraged by continuous product launches. We also believe that the
company's growing exposure into the cloud space will prove to be a
catalyst.
Nonetheless, weaker expenditures from different governments and
ongoing European economic turmoil will remain headwinds in the near
term. At the same time, heightened competition from big industry
players such as
IBM Corp.
(
IBM
),
Hewlett-Packard Company
(
HPQ
),
EMC Corp.
(
EMC
) and
CA Inc.
(
CA
) remain a concern.
Currently, BMC Software has a Zacks #3 Rank, indicating a
short-term Hold recommendation.
