Big Polish banks PKO, Pekao may merge next year - Rzeczpospolita

WARSAW, Dec 8 (Reuters) - Poland's biggest bank, state-run PKO BP, may merge next year with smaller rival Pekao, the second largest lender in the market, Rzeczpospolita daily said on Friday, quoting sources close to both banks.

The press office at PKO BP was not immediately available for comment, while Pekao's spokeswoman declined to comment.
