Avnet Inc.
's (
AVT
) operating unit, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas,
officially qualified as a programming services provider for
Atmel Corporation
's (
ATML
) SHA204 Crypto Authentication units. Avnet's services easily
comply with Atmel's various static data programming related
service guidelines including creating a wide range of samples to
ensure the data safety of the programming process.
Atmel's SHA204 are highly secured hardware validation chips,
which are considered to be the foremost in the
CryptoAuthentication product line to combine SHA-256 hash
algorithm with 4.5-Kbit EEPROM. The devices are specially
utilized as a key storage, varied read/write, read-only or
protected data, consumption logging as well as security
configuration and carry a unique 72-bit serial number. These can
easily perform in a low power consumption mode being perfect for
the space-constrained embedded and handheld electronic processes,
which are mainly used in the field of medical, metering and home
and industrial automation.
With this official recognition, the developers in the industry
can easily integrate every microcontroller with Atmel's SHA204
CryptoAuthentication devices to enhance product promotion through
ensuring its security. Avnet is identified as the first service
provider in the industry to secure such certification from
Atmel.
Management is satisfied regarding its decision to conflate
with Atmel, as this venture would help Avnet to easily deploy
highly secured hardware technique. Atmel's SHA204 chips connected
with various microprocessors would provide safe, easier and less
costly solutions to the company's customers for validating any
messages or pairing several embedded devices.
Avnet has emerged as a formidable player in the field of
electronic components and computer products. It offers a wide
range of products such as semiconductors, computer products,
passives and electromechanical connectors. These products provide
Avnet with a high competitive edge in this industry, thereby
improving its credibility ratings even more.
Avnet's domestic and foreign operations are subject to
significant competitive pressures. It faces stiff competition
from
Arrow Electronics Inc
. (
ARW
), which remains a fiercely formidable rival. Arrow Electronics
recently entered into a distribution agreement with Altia, Inc.
This will introduce Altia's wide range of user interface
development techniques to Arrow's distribution channel database
catering to the needs of its comprehensive clientele in North
America. Hence, the company must excel in terms of product
quality and innovation, customer service, technical and computing
capabilities and price competitiveness.
The current Zacks Consensus Estimates for the second quarter
of fiscal 2013 and for fiscal 2013 are 83 cents and $3.13,
representing year-over-year growth of (27.7%) and (22.9%),
respectively. The company currently retains a Zacks #5 Rank,
which translates into a short-term 'Strong Sell' rating. However,
we are maintaining a long-term 'Underperform' recommendation on
the stock.
