AviancaTaca Picks CFM Engines for Airbus Planes in $2.7 Billion Deal

PARIS--AviancaTaca Holding SA (PFAVTA.BO) has picked engine maker CFM to equip 51 of its Airbus aircraft in a deal worth $2.7 billion at list price, CFM said Monday.

CFM is partly owned by French engine maker Safran SA (SAF.FR) and General Electric Co. ( GE ).

Colombia-based airline AviancaTaca ordered the Airbus aircraft in 2011. It has chosen the CFM56-5B engine for 18 A320ceo jets due to be delivered between 2014 and 2016 and the LEAP-1A engine for 33 A320neo aircraft it will receive between 2017 and 2019, CFM said in a statement.

Including the maintainance contract for all the engines, the deal is worth $2.7 billion at list price, it said.
