Asian Stocks Gain as Japanese Deflation Continues

Financial markets changed little on light trading yesterday. In the US, Wall Street slipped amid weaker than expected consumer confidence, sending the DJIA and S&P 500 indices -0.14% and -0.12% respectively. In Asia session on Friday, shares soared on expectations that the Japanese government would accelerate monetary easing to boost the economy. Consistent deflation pressure reinforced this view. Commodities moved sideways after modest fluctuation yesterday.
