Asian Shares Mostly Decline Before Start of FOMC Meeting

Asian stocks were mostly lower before the Federal Open Market Committee begins its two-day policy meeting on Tuesday.

Most economists expect the Fed to trim its bond-buying program by $10 billion.

Japanese markets reopened after a three-day holiday weekend.


In ADR news, LG Display ( LPL ) is feeling heat from little-known Chinese LCD makers, according to Reuters. Several brokerages also cut Q3 earnings forecasts for LPL, CNBC.com says.

CNOOC Limited ( CEO ) says its ADRs were approved to trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Wednesday.

The Nikkei ended down 0.65% at 14,311.67, the Hang Seng down 0.31% at 23,180.52 and the Straits Times up 0.05% at 3,180.92.
