Asia Shares Mostly Rise After China Data

Asian stocks mostly gained after China data.

China's Q3 GDP rose 7.8% from a year ago, as expected. It looks like growth will achieve the government's growth target of 7.5% this year.

September industrial production jumped 10.2% from a year earlier, just better than forecasts for up 10.1%.


September retail sales gained 13.3%, below estimates for 13.5%.

Casino stocks rose after the Macau subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands Corp. ( LVS ) posted a 43% rise in Q3 net revenue to $2.34 billion.

The Nikkei ended down 0.17% at 14,561.54, the Hang Seng up 1.06% at 23,340.10 and the Straits Times up 0.2% at 3,192.90.
