ARR, MITT, HTS - REITs Top Bank Sector for Most 52-Week Lows

The real estate investment trust or REITs sector has finally topped the banking sector for the US industry with the most companies at a 52-week low. Here's a look at four REIT companies on a low, screened for a high yield. Check out the 22% yield for ARMOUR Residential REIT Inc. ( ARR ), 18.60% for AG Mortgage Investment Trust Inc. ( MITT ) and 15.00% for Hatteras Financial Corporation ( HTS ).

The four companies featured are more than 37% off a 52-week high and all are held by billionaires, with active insider trading at three of the companies.

The REITs sector currently has 64 companies out of 187 on a 52-week low. The low ratio is 0.34.

ARMOUR Residential REIT Inc. ( ARR ): 43.3% off High

Down 41% over 12 months, ARMOUR Residential REIT Inc. has a market cap of $1.51 billion, and trades with a P/E of 3.10.

The current share price is around $4.08, or 43.3% off the 52-week high of $7.20. The yield is 22.00%.

Organized in 2008, ARMOUR Residential REIT Inc. is a residential real estate investment trust, managed externally by ARMOUR Residential Management LLC. The company invests mainly in hybrid adjustable rate, adjustable rate and fixed rate residential mortgage backed securities issued or guaranteed by a U.S. Government-chartered entity.

The current share price is around $16.20, or 39.9% off the 52-week high of $26.94. The yield is 18.60%.

Formed in 2011, AG Mortgage Investment Trust Inc. invests in, acquires and manages a diversified portfolio of residential mortgage assets, other real estate-related securities and financial assets.

Incorporated in 1994, Supertel Hospitality Inc. is a self-administered REIT. Through its subsidiaries, the company owned approximately 86 limited service hotels in 22 states as of December 31, 2012. The company conducts its business through a traditional umbrella partnership REIT, or UPREIT.
