American Water Works Subsidiary Acquires New Whiteland Water System in Central Indiana for $4.2 Mln

American Water Works ( AWK ) says its wholly owned subsidiary, Indiana American Water, has acquired a water system from the Town of New Whiteland in central Indiana, adding 2,100 customers to the company's customer base for $4.2 million.

The acquisition was approved by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission in March, and finalized by Indiana American Water and New Whiteland on June 27. The New Whiteland system will be incorporated into the company's Johnson County District, which currently serves about 44,000 residents.

AWK shares are down 0.6% to around $33.60, with a 52-week range of $25.39 - $35.
