American Water Works Q4 Profit Beats, but Revenue Misses (AWK)

Water utility operator American Water Works Co., Inc. ( AWK ) on Monday posted a fourth quarter profit that beat Wall Street's view, but its revenue total fell short of expectations.

The Voorhees, NJ-based company reported fourth quarter net income of $64.8 million, or 37 cents per share, compared with $40.2 million, or 23 cents per share.

Revenue rose 2% from last year to $639.8 million.

On average, Wall Street analysts expected a smaller profit of 32 cents per share, albeit on higher revenue of $696 million.

American Water Works shares were unchanged in premarket trading Monday.
