American equity markets pullback Thursday

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The US Stock market experienced a negative opening Thursday as details of the recent agreement on taxes trickles out and are digested by market participants. Moreover, recent US data was released, highlighting mixed results for US employment. In the United States, the ADP Employment Change (December) was reported at 215K, against a consensus of only 133K. Meanwhile, Initial Jobless Claims (December 29) yielded a figure of 372K, against expectations of 355K. Finally, Continuing Jobless Claims (Dec 23) have come in at 3.245M, compared to 3.206M previously.

Beginning with the indices and composites, the NASDAQ fell -0.17% as it settles in region of 3107.45, down -5.36 points in these moments. In addition, the S&P 500 is trading in negative territory, operating at 1459.82, losing -2.69 points or -0.19% at the time of writing. Finally, the Dow Jones has moved lower at the opening as well, trading in the zone of 13366.86, presently -0.26% after a descent of -45.69 points.

Sectors are all red at the opening, however the Financial and Consumer non-cyclical sectors have distinguished themselves as the losers thus far, contracting -0.50% and -0.48% respectively. In other news, the price of crude has settled above USD $92.77 today, moving -0.38%.
