American equity markets open negatively Monday

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The US Stock market experienced a generally negative opening Monday, led in part by Apple ( AAPL ), which experienced demand concerns and fell alone by nearly -3.0% at the opening. Later today at 19:00 GMT/14:00 EST, market participants will be watching for any movements caused by Ben Bernanke's speech.

Beginning with the indices and composites, the NASDAQ fell -0.08% as it settles in region of 3122.80, down -2.58 points in these moments. In addition, the S&P 500 is trading in negative territory, operating at 1471.14, losing -0.84 points or -0.06% at the time of writing. Finally, the Dow Jones has moved higher at the opening as well, trading in the zone of 13494.56, presently +0.05% after an ascent of +6.13 points.

Sectors are all green at the opening, however the Technology sector has distinguished itself as the lone loser thus far, contracting -0.42%. In other news, the price of crude has settled above USD $93.77 Monday.
