FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The US Stock market experienced a mixed opening Tuesday with Alcoa ( AA ) in focus via the earnings report. It has been a rather muted day in terms of economic data, as market participants instead brace for the onset of earnings season.

Beginning with the indices and composites, the NASDAQ rose +0.11% as it settles in region of 3101.93, up +3.64 points in these moments. In addition, the S&P 500 is trading in negative territory, operating at 1460.65, losing -1.22 points or -0.08% at the time of writing. Finally, the Dow Jones has moved lower at the opening as well, trading in the zone of 13366.46, presently -0.13% after a descent of -17.83 points.

Sectors are all mixed at the opening, however the Basic Materials and Energy sectors have distinguished themselves as the losers thus far, contracting -0.30% and -0.50% respectively. In other news, the price of crude has settled above USD $93.24 today, moving -0.09%.
