Air Products & Chemicals Inc. ( APD ) announced that it will showcase some specialty additives, including surfactants, dispersants and a new line of defoamers, at the European Coatings Show (ECS) in Nuremberg, Germany.

At the ECS, Air Products will highlight its Airase Structured Siloxane Defoamer Line (SSDL), a line of formulated, siloxane-based defoamers for coatings, inks, adhesives and other industrial specialty applications. These products by Air Products have been designed to deliver predictable performance relative to each other to allow formulators to take a systematic approach to defoamer selection.

Each product in this lineup has a different balance of defoaming strength and formulation compatibility for optimal defoaming performance in different formulations.

Air Products will also display its Dynol 800 and Dynol 810 surfactants at the ECS. Dynol 800 and 810 surfactants provide a superior balance of properties compared to traditional fluorosurfactants and silicone surfactants, with exceptional performance in wood, plastic, inks and automotive coatings as well as in a wide variety of other water-based coating applications.

Air Products' Dynol 800 and 810 surfactants are easy to formulate and have the ability to reduce both equilibrium and dynamic surface tension to levels not achieved with other surfactants. This excellent balance of properties makes Dynol 800 and 810 surfactants an excellent alternative for difficult-to-wet substrates requiring good flow and leveling under diverse application conditions.

Air Products will also feature ZetaSperse 3600 dispersant, which is designed to offer excellent dispersion stability with effective pigment de-aeration, efficient milling, and viscosity control. The synergistic combination of surface active species used in ZetaSperse 3600 dispersant has also been found to offer the robust performance necessary to overcome pigment grade variations found with global sourcing of pigments.

Air Products will also introduce its Surfynol MD-610S defoamer, which is a highly effective powder defoamer designed to eliminate air entrapment in cementitious-based products for the construction industry. Surfynol MD-610S defoamer facilitates fast escape of entrapped air while incorporating water and during mixing. The resulting cementitious compositions exhibit enhanced flow, excellent self-leveling, reduced air content and a smooth and defect-free hardened surface.

Air Products currently carries a short-term Zacks Rank #2 (Buy). Apart from it, other companies in the chemical industry that worth a look are Akzo Nobel NV ( AKZOY ), Axiall Corporation ( AXLL ) and LyondellBasell Industries NV ( LYB ). All of them hold a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
