Agility and Adaptability

Trying to keep up with the Joneses might be something that is frowned upon in your private life yet when it comes to business it is essential to watch what competitors are doing on a regular basis and respond accordingly.

As customer taste changes, new competitors arrive and new products are being launched, having an IT system that allows a business to adapt to changing market tends is crucial, or as they say, mission-critical. Cloud computing offers the flexibility to purchase extra storage capacity as a business grows. Specialised apps have made managing business functions such as accounting much easier. The danger is that an ever increasing number of apps evolves into an unmanageable IT monster that hinders businesses more than it helps them progress.

Suppliers such as Netsuite (N ) and Winweb have come up with cloud-based packages, which integrate the functionality of different apps into a single corporate system. This means that accounting, invoicing, enterprise resource planning ERP, customer relationship management CRP, e-commerce, human resources etc. all form part of one single IT framework, which can be maintained and developed centrally.

Provided that these corporate cloud solutions can be extended and customised easily and cost-effectively, then they will indeed be mission-critical and help advance corporate agility and adaptability.
