S&P 500 gained 0.09%.

share buyback program. The Brazilian steelmaker reached a 52-week
high of $6.29 on December 26.

) rose 8.3% to $11.43 per ADR in
after analysts at Axiom Securities upgraded the company to Buy from
Sell and raised the price target to $16 from $1.70.
ADRs of Chinese retailers and online sellers rose as investors
shrugged off a soft report on retail sales this week: China Nepstar

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (RDY) gained 2% as investors
digested reports of its voluntary recall of a heartburn medication.
The Indian generic drugmaker on January 3 recalled about 58,565
bottles of lansoprazole because of contamination, the U.S. Food and
Drug Administration said in a weekly report.
Kingtone Wirelessinfo Solution Holdings Ltd. (KONE) led
decliners with a 15% drop to $6.04 per ADR.
Also down were Chinacache Holdings (CCIH) -8.1%, Airmedia Group
(AMCN) -8% and Xueda Education Group (XUE) -5.6%.
