A company may submit a request to reserve a new symbol for trading on The NASDAQ Stock Market by using our on-line form. The company may reserve one symbol, and the reservation will remain in place for up to six months. The company should contact Corporate Data Operations no later than two business days in advance of the desired change date to coordinate the symbol change. The company must provide documentation that the symbol reservation has been confirmed by NASDAQ Symbol Reservations.
What is the cost to reserve a symbol? There is no cost to reserve a symbol.
How long may I reserve a symbol? Symbol reservations are for six months. However, if a listing application is submitted within the six-month reservation period, the ticker symbol is held pending approval of the application. If the application is not submitted within six months, the reservation expires, and the symbol becomes available. A company may then re-apply for a symbol reservation at the time of its new application.
How many symbols may I reserve? Only one symbol may be reserved per company. A company may release a symbol and reserve a different symbol at any time (and receive a new six-month reservation) with two exceptions: - If the original symbol reserved by a company was removed from an OTCBB company, the NASDAQ company or applicant may not reserve a different symbol.
- A company may not reserve a symbol if the reservation period has expired. The only exception is if an application is submitted within the six-month reservation period where the ticker symbol is held pending approval of the application. If the application is not submitted within six months, the reservation expires, and the symbol becomes available.
Does NASDAQ disclose information regarding symbol reservations? NASDAQ does not voluntarily disclose any information beyond whether a symbol is or is not available.
